Where in the real life world do you live?
I live in the Netherlands.
How long have you played The Matrix Online?
I've played since a month or two before the official launch.
What other MMOs have you played?
Only in WOW have I seriously begun leveling a few characters. I've tried a few other MMOs but none of them could hold my interest for as long as MxO did, which is the only game that I currently play.
What type of work do you do?
I work at a transport company where I declare all kinds of goods for customs so they can enter and leave the country through legal ways.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most?
My first console was a Nintendo 8 bit with a couple of games. I can't remember exactly what got me in to games; I just have always enjoyed playing them. I was hooked on Super Mario and Duck Hunt.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing The Matrix Online?
I produce various kinds of dance and house music as a hobby and I'm going to build a small studio with a friend soon with more advanced toys and new software. I love listening to music, any genre, old and new. Every month or so we go with a few friends, to house parties, or raves, I have no idea what Americans call them. There I can escape from reality for hours at a time.
What is your highest character level in The Matrix Online?
My highest level character is level 50.
How or why did you choose your main character's name?
Reeverb is the software variation of a piece of hardware named: Reverb, an effect that is often used in various kinds of electronic music. It has nothing to do with my character and Syna means even less.
What Branch (Coder, Hacker, Operative) and ability tree is your main character?
Reeverb has always been loaded with guns while Syna used to be a Martial Artist. Later I gave Syna all the spy trees, unlike most knife throwers though…my aim is pretty bad.
Why did you choose the Branch and ability tree that you did?
I'm not fascinated by guns but I prefer looking at those animations rather than the red and purple grids and circles. Throwing knives is just stylish and quite effective. I load pretty much everything because I want to know how it all works.
Is your main character in a crew, if so, what rank is the character?
Syna isn't aboard a crew at the moment, but Reeverb is aboard the Ministry of Truth.
Is your main character in a faction, if so, which one and what is their faction rank?
My character Reeverb is in Ingsoc while Syna is not in a faction.
What was your favorite chapter?
I have to say my favorite chapter would have to be the whole chapter with the Assassin, even though there were a few things that I really disliked. The billboards with the riddles on them were a great addition to the interactivity that MxO offered and the overall tension and excitement were great.
What is your favorite neighborhood?
I don't have one; I like the ruined neighborhoods in Westview as much as I like Downtown's skyscrapers.
Who is your favorite NPC?
No, not the Effectuator hah! The Assassin is my all-time favorite. He was ruthless and even though he didn't speak, we could still converse with him. Of all the enemies that the Matrix had, the Assassin seemed to be the most devoted. He didn't depend on people like the other villains seem to and he didn't have his own waves of NPC friends like the General's commandos or Anome's Unlimits. Plus, he whacked Morpheus; certainly no villain surpassed such an achievement yet, not even the genius A.I. of the Machines.
What is the most $info you have ever spent at one time and what did you purchase?
The most $info I have ever spent was 50 million on two Sakura bandana's and 50 million on an organization key. I can't remember spending more on any other items. I think the dumbest purchases I've made were all the code bits that I've bought.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so, what is it and why do you keep it?
I still have the Zion Hardware Requisition, Fly in Amber and a Flit Gun. I keep them because they remind me of when I began playing MxO. I also like to log in to Apollyon South East every now and then, because that's where I logged in the first time. Now that I've seen most of the game I tend to never look at things the way I used to and those few things make me remember how much the game has changed.
What do you like best about The Matrix Online?
The overall looks are what I enjoy the most, the graphics, animations and the rest of the design. They're not that great in comparison with games that were recently released, but no other MMO has this setting and looks this good.
How would you describe your best experience playing The Matrix Online?
Contrary to my favorite chapter, my best experience was probably making a decision with my faction and the rest of Zion on the fate of Neurophyte. I think that was one of the first times where I really felt that players had influence on the outcome of the stories. When Neurophyte was saved, I was proud that we saved her life with democratic voting.
Do you run or work for an MxO Fan Site or Radio Station?
No, I do not.
