Where in the real life world do you live?

I'm from Germany and live in a region called the Ruhr Area (Ruhrgebiet), which is well known for its heavy industries like Thyssen-Krupp. That is just a small part of the area; we also have wonderful nature areas with woods, rivers, lakes, and parks.

How long have you played The Matrix Online?

I started playing in May of 2005. Before that I was waiting for the announced European and German beta-version, so I missed the only beta.

What other MMOs have you played?

I bought my PC just for The Matrix Online, what can I say?

What type of work do you do?

I'm a writer of science fiction novels and I studied law. After two examinations I'm now technically what we call a "Volljurist" (lawyer).

What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most?

I think I started gaming when I was seven years old in a little toy shop while on vacation in the Netherlands. It was a Nintendo console and yes, it was Mario. I like shooters like Halo and TimeShift, role-playing games, adventure games, beat 'em ups, simulations, sport games, jump'n'runs etc.

What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing The Matrix Online?

I'm the game master and in really rare moments the player of several Pen & Paper role-playing games like Shadowrun, Das Schwarze Auge, Earthdawn, Call of Cthulhu, and Marvel Super Heroes. I like books and movies, my favorite genres are mystery, action, comedy, science fiction, thriller and horror. I also like music and chilling with friends without being a party-animal. Oh, I forgot my Phelsuma laticauda laticauda(golden dust day Gecko).

What is your highest character level in The Matrix Online?

My highest-level character is 50 and I gave myself a nice long time to grow up to that status. Don't hurry, be happy!

How or why did you choose your main character's name?

Chimaere is the German word for chimera - a being in Greek mythology that was made up of parts of multiple animals. It fits for Loona and it fits for me. In a special way it reminds both of us of different events in our past.

What Branch (Coder, Hacker, Operative) and ability tree is your main character?

Chimaere's normal loadout is Guardian Patcher in the Hacker branch, that way I have the possibility to reanimate, recall, and if I'm forced to defend myself I have Ballista. I also use the Coder branch so I can make abilities too.

Why did you choose the Branch and ability tree that you did?

My normal loadout is for helping others, to craft for newbies, and bring them to interesting places.

Is your main character in a crew, if so, what rank is the character?

Chimaere is the captain of the "Excellent Exilants" and the hovercraft Midgard.

Is your main character in a faction, if so, which one and what is their faction rank?

Chimaere is the leader of the "Phalanx Persephone" – a very small, friendly, and non-aggressive faction.

What was your favorite chapter?

It was a surprise for me to see the death of Morpheus and the whole Assassin story was great, but I think the Piece of Blue Sky event with the Sleepwalker spawns, the in-game cinematic, and the incredible lag of crowded servers at the final fight gets the trophy of Chimaere's favorite chapter.

What is your favorite neighborhood?

My favorite place is next to the Uriah south-west hardline. I know, it is ugly, but hey, here are the helpless lowbies. Jurong central is beautiful and is also one of my favorites, but with Sati's Playground I found a place where the sun is bright and shining all the time. It's a good place for meditation.

Who is your favorite NPC?

Persephone, our adorable mistress is my favorite NPC. I'm still waiting for her to her own subgroup. PP (Phalanx Persephone) sounds as good as EPN and CYP in my opinion.

What is the most $info you have ever spent at one time and what did you purchase?

On a bad day in my simulated life I spent 300,000,000 $info for a single code bit because of a lagging marketplace. Some of you do remember, I think. I got it back in two hard anniversary weeks and missions lots of missions.

Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so, what is it and why do you keep it?

I think I still have some hacker grant pills and a lot of un-needed codes, plus some useless no longer working abilities in the loading area. Why? Well, I suppose I'm a really excessive collector. Maybe I think I could need them some time in the future.

What do you like best about The Matrix Online?

I like the setting, the players, and the possibilities. Chimaere has a good interesting life in the simulation and it is nice to watch her enjoying her existence.

How would you describe your best experience playing The Matrix Online?

My best experiences are the role-playing events I participated in. As a European, I miss most of the normal live events, but sometimes I am lucky. The real fun I get is with hours of philosophical player discussions and the epic (/giggle) Liaison Roundtable of Peace

Do you run or work for an MxO Fan Site or Radio Station?

No, I don't.
