Attributes and Influences Attributes are associated with Abilities and are expressed in numbers. Each Ability is made up of several Attributes, such as Melee Damage and Area of Effect. Each Influence carries the same name as the Attribute it gives a bonus to. Influences are expressed as percentages that modify the Attribute when an Ability is activated. This table lists what Influence bonuses are affected by character Stats. Keep in mind that Abilities can have positive or negative Attribute numbers--upgrade Abilities (buffs) have positive numbers while downgrade Abilities (debuffs) have negative numbers. Influence bonuses increase the size of the upgrade or downgrade. Putting it All Together Here's an example that should help you understand how this all works. We'll see how scores in two different Stats can change the effect of a single Ability. Ability: Despoiler Despoiler is an area-effect viral attack that reduces the melee damage, ballistic damage, melee accuracy, and ballistic accuracy of enemies near your target. Focus has both Ballistic Accuracy and Melee Damage Influences, while Belief has a Melee Accuracy Influence. Your use of the Despoiler Ability would now look like this: - Melee Damage: -16 points, 20 seconds
