Crew and Faction Issues

We’re still getting intermittent reports of players having problems with their crews or factions not loading correctly. If you’re experiencing this problem, please make sure to send the issue in via /ccr and provide us with as much information as possible. We’re continuing to investigate the issue and every bit of information we get helps.

Q-Gun Exploit

The statement that the problem with the Q-gun was fixed in Update 44 turns out to be partially true. Some versions of the Q-gun did have their DOTs fixed. However, some did not, which is what some folks have been reporting.

We’ll have a fix for this issue as soon as we can. Until that time, please refrain from using any version of the Q-gun in game. We appreciate your patience as we resolve the problem.

Where’s the Synthesized Protein Fortified with Vitamins and Amino Acids?

Now that I’ve covered a couple of the hot topics, let’s move on to the main course. From the responses I saw about last week’s article, what you want to hear about most is upcoming developments for the game.

At the top of the list is fixing some nagging bugs and other issues. Some of our development time will always be focused on this, especially when there are issues that reduce the enjoyment of the game. For example, the “Target Not In Range” spam due to weapons not auto-equipping. It’s a small issue that causes a lot of annoyance. Those are things we’re hot to fix.

And, of course, there’s the episodic content (i.e., critical missions). This also will always be part of our dev cycle. Fifteen new missions every six weeks may not seem like much, but it does eat up a good chunk of time. One of the reasons we work on a six-week schedule now is to allow extra time for our designers to work on things other than missions.

What are those things? Glad you asked.

Archival Missions

Our current top priority is the introduction of Archival Missions. In short: All players will be able to play through the critical missions from past chapters for all three Organizations. These missions won’t affect your reputation with your current Organization.

Each Organization’s Archivist Vendor will have special tickets for sale for these missions. Players can purchase one and use it to launch the mission. When you complete these missions, you’ll earn a token that can be turned in later with other mission tokens for reward items.

The archival missions are now undergoing testing for release in Update 45. Then even new players will get to experience the full storyline of The Matrix Online.

White Hallways

No, not white rooms—white hallways. You know, the hallways that lead to backdoors in the system. Yes, they exist in The Matrix Online. And, after some time and testing, we plan on bringing them to you.

The plan is to make white hallways accessible by taking special missions. There will be three possible “backdoors”—one for each Organization. These doors will lead to special Org-only areas where Crews and Factions can meet in private.

The team’s been doing a lot of work on them over the past few months and we’ll begin testing soon.

Organization Abilities

We’ve been talking about Organization-specific Abilities for a while now. If you’re just joining us, these are sets of Abilities that will only be usable by members of each Organization. They’ll be earned through each Organization’s graduation missions. We’ll be re-doing the missions, so players who have already done the graduation missions will be able to retake them to get the Abilities.

More details about the Organization Abilities will be in an upcoming interview with the team. We haven’t set a release date for these, either, as a lot of testing has to be done before they’re ready.

We haven’t set release dates for either the white hallways or Organization Abilities quite yet. The hallways will likely come first, as the Abilities will require both functional and balance testing before we release them. We’ll have more news as progress continues.

That’s it for this week. I’ll catch you on the other side.

Talk about this article on Broadcast Depth.
