Where in the real life world do you live?
I live in the Midwest, USA.
How long have you played The Matrix Online?
I started playing in May of 2006, so it's been about two and a half years.
What other MMOs have you played?
I've experimented in DDO, WoW, SWG, RF Online and City of Heroes/Villains, but I always kept coming back to MxO.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most?
I've been playing games since I was little. When I was growing up my parents got my sisters and me, a Commodore 64 (instead of an Atari like I wanted at the time). I soon was trading games with other kids in the neighborhood and at school. I remember the first time I "chatted" with someone online; it was on the Commodore 64 using a 300 baud modem. I was fascinated and thrilled. I've always enjoyed games involving strategic thinking. One of my all-time favorite games is M.U.L.E., which I still play on occasion with my sister. I also went through a phase where I was shamefully addicted to The Sims.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing The Matrix Online?
I enjoy photography, inline skating, working out, going for long drives, watching Star Trek, Law & Order and CSI.
What is your highest character level in The Matrix Online?
Asna has been level 50 since the 2006 Halloween Event.
How or why did you choose your main character's name?
It just came to me during the character creation process. I remember I'd been thinking about the name Aslan, and how beautiful, simple, and powerful it was. I rearranged a couple letters in my head to make a feminine name, and there it was. I've since found that it is a Sanskrit name meaning "voracious". In my head, it is pronounced "OZ-nuh".
What Branch (Coder, Hacker, Operative) and ability tree is your main character?
Asna is a Hacker. I switched to Master Knife Thrower for a while, and it was fun, but I missed my area attacks too much.
Why did you choose the Branch and ability tree that you did?
Not sure why I started with Hacker. I found it highly productive when grinding on my way to 50 so I stuck with it. I also really love the animations.
Is your main character in a crew, if so, what rank is the character?
Asna is captain of the hovercraft Theora Jones. My ship is named for a character in the 80s cyberpunk ABC series "Max Headroom" which I remember loving as a kid.
Is your main character in a faction, if so, which one and what is their faction rank?
I'm faction leader of the Vixens.
What was your favorite chapter?
I'm going to go with Chapter 8, the dissolution of the Truce. That was one of the few times I felt like the story had taken a major turn and things were going to heat up. It's definitely not been the same since.
What is your favorite neighborhood?
My favorite is definitely Tabor Park. There's just something comfortable about it. Maybe it's cause I spent so many days grinding there.
Who is your favorite NPC?
My favorite NPC is Broomfondle or maybe Hedgehog.
What is the most $info you have ever spent at one time and what did you purchase?
The most I have ever spent would have to be my Svanhild's Plumage and Spurs. Had to almost bankrupt my crew bank account to get them, but I've never once regretted it.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so, what is it and why do you keep it?
During the 3rd Anniversary event, I ran into Virrago at a hardline. I was suspicious at first that it might not be him, but then he gave me an Oracle's Cookie to prove it. I still have this cookie fondly tucked away in my email. Then he turned me into a glitch kitty and I went to the big party that way.
What do you like best about The Matrix Online?
What I like best about MxO is hard to narrow down to just one thing. I love the community, especially my faction and all the great people I've met. I love how richly detailed the world is and how beautifully it renders on my computer(s). I also love the Matrix films and the opportunity to explore and play in the "real" Matrix as envisioned by the Wachowskis.
How would you describe your best experience playing The Matrix Online?
Some of my fondest memories are those times when my friends and I are laughing ourselves silly. There are just too many instances to list, but my favorite one, well, it's a long story. Let's just say Asagi and I are the worst spies ever.
Do you run or work for an MxO Fan Site or Radio Station?
Nope, sure don't, but I do occasionally put together a music show called Asna's Grindhouse. It is broadcast on Catzi Radio on Thursday nights as part of the weekly Vixen Hour show. Just some fun "music to mish to".
