The
Assassin is expressing himself.  A new
form of the Corrupted - fly-swarms loosely in the shape of men - stalk the
Matrix.  They are degraded aspects of
The Assassin: his cut-loose shadows, so to speak.  But these shadows have a sting. They fight.
  They injure. They kill.  Redpills
throughout the Matrix have engaged them, knowing they are, somehow, the
vanguard of a larger shadow that may choke the Matrix with buzzing darkness.
  Already,
  the Matrix seems darker.
  Why
does the Assassin unleash them now?
Rumor has it, based on his cobbled-together memoir, he senses his own
doom and wishes to bring it upon the Matrix as well.  The Assassin is aggrieved.  He believes he hasn't received his
  due.  He feels disrespected; a
Michelangelo of his craft who is treated like an apprentice embalmer with
smelly hands.  A genius without honor.
What remains to be seen is how entities in the
Matrix, human and otherwise, now react.  Some say one should be measured by the
quality of one's enemies.  Who will
rise to oppose the Assassin's new threat?
  The answer will be significant.
