Sick Day for Looking Glass
Apparently this got out to the community at some point, but in case you missed it, I caught the ick the Monday of Thanksgiving week. My three-day week turned into a one-day week and I even had to take Wednesday off this week. With all that time laid up, I've been trying to catch up with things as best I can.
Much of what's been going on in my absence is work on the Winter Holiday. As you've seen in the past few Image Retrievals, we've got some upgrades in store for you this year. There's one more...big...surprise waiting. Rarebit may decide to show it off next Wednesday, or he may decide to wait and let the community discover when the event starts. Either way, it's one of the coolest re-uses of content he's come up with yeti.
'Tis the Season: Part 2
So, instead of a full Looking Glass, I'm going to make another post about Child's Play. A few years ago, the guys from Penny Arcade decided to do something nice for kids at Seattle Children's Hospital. They put a call out to the gaming community to prove that all the ills of the world are not caused by video games. To prove, in fact, that gamers are pretty decent people. They asked for donations of toys, cash, and time to give these kids a good Christmas holiday. The results were nothing short of spectacular.
The Child's Play charity has grown to include hospitals around the world. Being in a hospital over the holidays is tough on these kids and it's our chance to help spread some good cheer to them. This year there are more ways than ever to donate to Child's Play. If you're not already volunteering time, gifts, or money to a worthy cause this holiday season, why not send a little joy to the world in this way? Nothing speaks more to the spirit of the season than putting a smile on a kid's face.
